Have you heard? This past week we’ve been jammin’ out during Graduate Hotels’ Sound Sessions with a few up-and-comers who are quickly becoming some of our favorite bands, from indie rock tunes with Joywave to country ballads with Ryan Kinder and Brandon Ray.
Earlier this month, a Graduate favorite, Ryan Kinder, took the stage at Graduate Athens’ music venue, The Foundry. This is Kinder’s second Graduate performance after his debut celebrating the opening of our hotel in Lincoln, NE over the summer. Before his show, we caught up with Ryan about his early days in Alabama, his new single ‘Still Believe in Crazy Love’, life in Nashville and everything in between. He’s climbed the charts with his unique vocals that push country across its borders into rock territory. In his words, his sound is Southern, Soul and Bluesy as a result of growing up listening to legends like Clapton and The Allman Brothers.
Over in the Sun Devil nation, Joywave performed at the second Graduate Session of the year, an exclusive monthly concert series with local Tempe alternative radio station Joywave took down the house for 70 lucky fans for an intimate acoustic set followed by a private meet & greet. Want to know how to score tickets to this VIP rendezvous? You can enter to win on Alt AZ’s website.
Finally, country singer and songwriter, Brandon Ray, starred in Star City for our final Sound Session of February last week during which we took part in his pre-show ritual inclusive of Red Bull, jumping jacks and “Steve Harvey” chants with his bandmates. Ray took the stage at John J’s Chow Hall where his twang and catchy lyrics had all of us grooving into the wee hours of the night.
