Fly Eagles, Fly!
What an electrifying past few days it was celebrating Super Bowl LII in our latest hometown, Minneapolis. The big game was one for the books, with the underdog Philadelphia Eagles taking home a big W – their first Super Bowl win ever – after a nail-biting game that came down to the final seconds against the powerhouse Patriots.
Of course, we were thrilled to play host to bold fans from both teams and keep the festivities going with some Big Game fun of our own.
Thursday kicked off with a visit from former Minnesota Vikings players Rickey Young and Doug Sutherland, and ESPN’s Twin Cities radio affiliate for a live-edition of the station’s famed Purple Podcast at The Beacon, our hotel’s restaurant. The interview tackled all things pigskin and what’s next for the Purple People Eaters.
Throughout the weekend, guests were invited to a cornhole tourney, life-size JENGA round robin and an outdoor ice bar complete with a fire pit. Bellies were kept full of snacks inspired by the Eagles and Patriot’s hometowns – Philly cheesesteak bites and mini New England lobster rolls (is that your stomach growling?). Everyone’s favorite sheepdog on wheels took the City of Lakes by storm, literally, as our Mutt Cutts van trailblazed through a blizzard, made its way ‘round town and reunited with Rob Riggle of Dumb & Dumber To.
When Super Sunday arrived, Graduate Minneapolis guests left warm in custom Graduate Hotels x Topo Designs beanies to cheer on their favorite team.
Although we’ve now put away our war paint and team colors, we’re happy to have celebrated among ‘sota’s finest, football fanatics, and everyone in-between.
Counting down the days until the next kick off…
