Nearby Shopping in East Lansing

Shopping with a small-town atmosphere and plenty of charm is what East Lansing is all about. Whether you’re looking for some retail therapy, or to buy the perfect gift for your MSU student, you’ll find a unique assortment of clothing, bookstores and home goods to browse. Love to read? Start your shopping spree off at local favorite, the Curious Bookstore, for off-beat titles and authors no longer in print.

Lover of jewelry and accessories? The owners of Mad Eagle Boutique welcome you to peruse their distinctive collection of earrings, made with precious stones and gems.

Whatever you’re on the hunt for, here’s the best couple shops and stops to check out on your next East Lansing shopping spree.

1

Curious Book Shop

Stop by Curious Book Shop, East Lansing’s iconic used and rare bookshop that’s been around since 1969. Spanning three floors and carrying over 50,000 (yes, you read that right) well-organized books, magazines and other paper items, prepare to spend a good bit of time in Curious.

Though the inventory covers pretty much all genres, the shop specializes in science fiction, mystery, children’s books and Michigan history to name a few. Owner and MSU alum Ray Walsh’s shelves have a little bit of everything, so don’t hesitate to ask the knowledgeable staff for recommendations.

Insider Tip

Head over to their Etsy site to snag some vintage 1930s magazines.
